Our Leaders

Head of School

Jennifer Purdee is committed to serving the staff, students and parents daily. She strives to have a servant leadership style.  Every student matters every day, so Mrs. Purdee is very focused on individual student achievement and growth.  It is a strong asset to her leadership to have the perspectives gained from serving Piedmont as a substitute teacher, teacher assistant, teacher, curriculum coordinator, Assistant Managing Director, Elementary Director and Head of School.  Thirteen years experience at PCCS-CFA as well as her Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision have given her the wisdom needed to lead Piedmont.  Our Head of School is an instructional leader who uses data heavily to make informed program planning decisions.

Elementary Academic Director

Holly White is originally from Ohio, where she graduated in 2003 from Mount Union College with a degree in Middle Childhood Education.  She has a master’s degree from Western Carolina University in School Administration.  Mrs. White taught Language Arts for 8 years in middle school, three of those years at PCCS-CFA.  Whether as a Challenge Foundation Fellow, an assistant director at the secondary campus, an assistant director at the elementary campus or as her current role of Elementary Director, Mrs. White brings proven leadership skills and expertise to Piedmont.

Elementary Assistant Director

Sheila Richards is going into her 17th year in education. She has taught 2nd and 3rd grade.  Her experience also extends to time teaching seventh and eighth graders.  When students graduate from fifth grade, they will still get to enjoy Mrs. Richard’s company as a chaperone on the annual eighth grade trip to Disney World.  Easy to talk to and ready to answer your questions, you will enjoy time spent with Mrs. Richards.  Mrs. Richards is in her 3rd year in elementary administration at Piedmont.

Secondary Academic Director

Ernie Bridges is the former Highland School of Technology Health Sciences Academy Coordinator. Mr. Bridges has 16 years experience of leadership in high school administrative roles.  His strong background in Science paired with his commitment to academic excellence is a huge asset to Piedmont.  His commitment to well-rounded programs shines when you consider his love of sports as he was voted Conference Coach of the Year in 1997, 1998, 2005, 2006 and 2007 for Girls Basketball.  With a K-12 Administrative Certification from Gardner Webb University and 28 years of experience as an educator, we are so pleased to have him on our team.

Secondary Assistant Director High School

With 36 years in education, Mrs. Denece Farris will be an Assistant Director at Secondary focused on high school students. As an assistant principal she was invited to be a candidate in the Assistant Principals Executive program. She was in the Springfield Development Program for Educational Leadership, which is sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals.  With strong roots in Gaston County, she has served  on the United Way funding committee, attended the Leadership Gaston program, and been on the zoning and planning board in Cramerton, where she has lived for 28 years with her husband and her three dachshunds  Mrs. Farris is committed to making student success her biggest priority at Piedmont.

Secondary Assistant Director Middle School

Going into her eleventh year in education, Ms. Heather Hutchens will be an Assistant Director at Secondary focused on middle school students. Having taught for eight years, this will be her third year in administration. She is a UNC-Greensboro graduate with her masters in school administration from UNC-Charlotte.  Ms. Hutchens will be an administrator as well as a Piedmont parent. A favorite quote of Ms Hutchens is, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”
