Piedmont Students To Play at Collegiate Level

Piedmont Community Charter School is celebrating two seniors who will play at a collegiate level next year.  Christian Walker and Demoniya Cole, both joined the 1000 Point Club by scoring over 1000 points for Piedmont during their high school careers.

Christian has signed a letter of intent for Ferrum College in Virginia. He averaged 13 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists per game. He made the All Conference team and was voted Best All Around player by Piedmont. He shares, “I am excited about Ferrum because it has a family atmosphere which makes it feel like home. But I will miss the smiles of the Piedmont students. I feel truly blessed with the opportunity at Ferrum and all the people that helped me attain it.”

Demoniya Cole will be attending Montreat College on an athletic scholarship. She averaged 17 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks per game. She made the All Conference team and was voted Most Valuable player at Piedmont. She is an individual Scholar Athlete which requires a 3.5 GPA or higher. Demoniya is also a strong soccer player.

Athletic Director, Dwayne Prioleau, says, “I am proud of the way that both of these players have matured on and off the court. I am excited about their future opportunities expanding their careers into collegiate athletics.” In the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, Piedmont’s girls varsity basketball team has been awarded the Scholar-Athlete Team Award for having the top unweighted GPA for their sport in the entire state. Out of 400+ teams across the state, Piedmont’s varsity girls team was able to balance academics and athletics the best.
