Emily Bartlett- Charlotte Ballet’s Student of the Year

Emily Bartlett was chosen as Charlotte Ballet’s Dance Student of the Year.  Emily gets to perform a solo at next year’s Charlotte Ballet’s Salute to Education. She won two tickets to every Charlotte Ballet performance for the next year, which is approximately $600 worth of ballet tickets!

Secondary campus director, Ernie Bridges, shares, “We are extremely proud of Emily’s accomplishments. We look forward to hearing about her future success.”

This Piedmont 10th grader grew up dancing in a studio. Emily has continued to dance at school, taking full advantage of every opportunity she has to learn and grow. She choreographed a solo in 2017 that was chosen to be performed at the Charlotte Ballet Middle and High School Dance Festival. This year, she is the captain of the Dance Team where she facilitates rehearsals and creates all of the choreography herself.  She is also an instrumental part of the Foreign Language Club where she was involved in bringing Zumba instructors to Piedmont to provide after school classes.

Her dance teacher Angie Paul shares, “She is a leader and mentor with her dancing peers.  Emily is one of the hardest working kids I’ve ever taught. Emily always gives tremendous effort.  Emily loves dancing over any of her other hobbies and activities.  She often leads warm-ups and happily assists her classmates in rehearsals or with choreography projects.  On stage, Emily showcases her dancing talent.  I’ve never met a human being who finds such pure joy in movement more than she does.”

One of her classmates was quoted as saying, “If Emily masters the dance, she is always willing to help everyone else be successful too. She is just as focused on helping others improve as she is on mastering the dance herself.”
