Senior Spotlight: Taylor Tremmel

Piedmont Senior, Taylor Tremmel, would like to be a graphic designer after college. She has always had a passion for art. She says,”Being able to communicate a message through my art is a dream for me.”  Taylor is a hard worker who has been the yearbook editor for two years in a row. She hopes to attend Western Carolina University.

Having worked in two different restaurants, Taylor started working her sophomore year in high school. She has participated in sign language club, prom committee for two years, and art club for two years.  Her freshman year, she even received perfect attendance. Her hard work has paid off at school in the form of a high GPA and recognition with several awards including: A/B honor roll all four years of high school, Spanish II, Painting, Yearbook, Photography, and honorable mention for the Keep Gastonia Beautiful art contest her freshman year. This year Taylor was one of five winners of a Gaston County art competition that will display her art piece called “Golden Years” on the exterior wall at the rear entrance of the Gaston County Administration Building.

When asked about her favorite class, she shared, “It was Mrs.Starnes American history class. Mrs.Starnes is hands down my favorite teacher. She is so compassionate towards every single one of her ‘kids.’  She is basically my second mom and therapist all in one! I’ve never been good at history until her class. She teaches in a way that is easy to comprehend, and if you still don’t understand she will drop everything to help you. There are fun activities that she does in her class like dancing to music from the roaring 20’s when learning about that period!”

As Taylor considers graduating, she has the following advice for freshmen, “Even though you think graduation is far away, it’s really not. High school is going to fly by. Once you’re a senior, you’re going to realize how fast those four years went. So don’t waste them!”  From her commitment to leading her yearbook team to her county-wide art contest win, Taylor is the portrait of a Piedmont graduate.
